Hydraulic bilge pump systems typically have no need for wear plates, seals, electrical parts, and are typically designed for low maintenance. Hydraulic bilges can be designed to handle dry situations due to hydraulic power, and will not suffer from cavitation. With hydraulic power being used, the pumps can be small and have multiple speeds. Also, being around water, electrical circuits become harm and therefore using hydraulics creates no electrical hazard.
